Same Old Story

SMH reports the death of a Saudi Arabian man:

A 130-year-old man has died in Saudi Arabia after a life of eating only the fruit of his labour and making the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca three times on foot, a newspaper reported today.

Zafer bin Yehya al-Asmari died in Ballasmar in southern Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, leaving behind about 60 grandchildren, the Al-Watan newspaper reported, without making clear how many times he married.

The amazing thing about this story is that the man was apparently a whopping 16 years older than the man who previously was thought to be the world’s oldest.

Could this be another example of Saudi Arabia’s inability to tell the truth? Or perhaps the old man had a touch of the Sheikh Yassins about him. Either way, color me skeptical.
