Here’s some good news for Madonna fans in Israel:
The grass at Jaffa’s Bloomfield stadium is used to being stepped on by soccer players, coaches, referees and excited sports fans. But this coming September, it will be trampled on by a genuine international star in what is expected to be an almost historical visit.
The legendary Madonna, who will be coming to Israel as part of her world tour, preferred the grass at the soccer stadium to that at Hayarkon Park, and has decided to hold her Israeli concerts at the stadium.

The huge stage the singer uses in her concerts will be set up between gates 7 and 8. Most of the audience will stand on the grass, but there will be seating up in the balcony. Some 16,000 tickets will be sold for each performance.
The Sports Center management has confirmed that Madonna will perform at Bloomfield Stadium. They say it’s a dream come true that Madonna will perform there.
You can say what you want about Madonna, but this is a classy move. I can hardly recall the last time an international act was willing to come to Israel (I think the last major act here was Wu-Tang Clan last year, but that was understandable considering performer Remedy’s Jewish background). Even those poster-boys for macho, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, were not willing to come a few years ago, due to the security situation.
Perhaps Madonna has learned something from Kabbalah after all.
