David Beckham is not the only soccer star currently having a hard time of things.
Fallen football idol Diego Maradona was “improving” and “responding to treatment” in hospital, doctors said, as he fought for his life after a major heart attack.The 43-year-old Maradona, whose fame as a spectacular but controversial footballer has given way to tales of drug abuse in recent years, was admitted to a private clinic late yesterday with suspected heart trouble.
By today Maradona, who already suffered a heart attack four years ago, had suffered a major heart attack and was on a respirator as he was unable to breath by himself.
Dr Alfredo Cahe, who was at the hospital almost immediately after the star’s admission, said that the next 24-48 hours would be crucial for Maradona’s survival chances.
If he survives, will he claim it was the “Hand of G-d”?
