Now that I have your attention..
As you know, I hardly ever agree with him, but when he is right, he is right:
Peres is also demanding an agreement with the Likud on formulating an agreed upon strategy to put an end to what he called “the criminalization of the country’s political system, and the attempts by organized crime syndicates to infiltrate it.
It is generally accepted that all is not kosher in Israeli politics. Just recently, the father of MK Inbal Gavrieli survived an underworld hit. The incident highlighted the possible correlation between Inbal’s meteoric rise from waitress/law student to MK, and her daddy’s friendship with some gentlemen you would not want to encounter in a dark alley.
And now this:
Former Energy Minister Gonen Segev was arrested Wednesday on suspicion that he tried to smuggle into Israel 25,000 ecstasy pills, estimated at over one million shekels, brought from Amsterdam.
Police is also suspecting that the former minister aided criminals in running casinos in Prague, Israel Radio reported.
And while all of this is going on, the Prime Minister himself is implicated in some allegedly shady dealings.
But that’s Israel for you: never a dull moment.
