Meet Shimon Peres, Israel’s answer to John Kerry.
Peres 2004:
“there is no such thing as a unilateral disengagement, and you cannot just make a one-sided move like that. They also have to disengage from us, not just us from them..”
Peres 2003:
Labor Party leader Shimon Peres called on the Knesset opposition to unite behind an initiative to press Israel to immediately carry out a unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and dismantle its settlements. He said the opposition must formulate a “diplomatic strategy,” after having put all of its efforts into social matters. “A Gaza withdrawal has a chance of succeeding,” Peres said.
