Just a few days after we saw Greek Olympic officials reduce Israel’s capital to an “*”, comes this latest manifestation of Greek anti-Israel bias:
Greek javelin champion Sofia Sakorafa has submitted a request to the IOC Executive Committee asking to represent Palestine at the 2004 Athens Games in August, local media reported Monday.
IOC is expected to respond by May 18 after its scheduled meeting.
The 47-year old athlete, who ended her sports career 17 years ago, describes her decision as “an action of peace and in absolute accordance with the Olympic Spirit.”
The Palestinian Authority has responded positively to Sakorafa’s request, while the Palestinian Olympic Committee has submitted its own related request to the IOC, with a letter addressed to IOC President Jacques Rogge from Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat.
Which begs the following questions:
1. How come her “action of peace” involve solidarity with the PLO Arabs? How is peace promoted by supporting one side in a conflict?
2. Why would she choose to align herself with the only people in the history of the Olympics who have flagrantly violated the same “Olympic spirit” that she believes guides her request?
3. How the hell do you pronounce her surname?

This woman is 47 years old, its possible she was at the Munich Olympics.
Maybe she’s hopimg for a repeat.
I think when the time comes many Greeks will boo the Israelis if they have any success.
Many are virulent antisemites and i doubt the world will condemn them if it happens.
I can see them preparing hononary gold medals for any Pals that come over in honour of their “terriblle persecution”.
When i think of the splendour that Greece once was , it makes me puke .
