Greek newspaper Kathimerin reports the following:
Coast guards detained yet another large group of illegal immigrants off southern Crete yesterday, and arrested seven men suspected of having smuggled them into Greek waters.
It was the sixth bunch of illegal immigrants to be caught in the area since April 27, bringing up the total of detainees to about 500 people.

All the migrants claimed to be Palestinians, apparently in the hope of securing more favorable treatment, although coast guards suspect that they are Egyptians ó as proved to be the case with the 463 migrants caught in the area over the past fortnight. All had claimed to be Palestinians, but failed a written test prepared by Palestinian diplomats in Athens.
Regardless of whether they are PLO Arabs or Egyptians, I suspect that it is no coincidence that they were trying to enter Greek territory ahead of the Olympics. If you get my drift.

Australia has a very effective refugee immigration programme which sets in perspective the rot levelled against the govts’ position on illegal entry. Having said that, there are two reaons for restricting immigration:
It is undesireable to let unrestricted numbers of people immigrate on the telling counts which Enoch Powell eloquently stated.
The second is sobering, the possibility of Islamo-fascists and terrorists entering the country. That is no scare, since that is precisely the grave problem within Britian and Europe.
