A Saudi man has divorced his wife for the unforgiveable sin of phoning in to a talk show.
A Saudi has divorced his wife for participating in a television programme by telephone when he had previously warned her against phoning in to talk shows, a newspaper has reported.
Khadija F. Fares, a 31-year-old Saudi woman, told Al-Watan that her husband of 12 years annulled their marriage after she expressed her point of view on “marital problems” during a programme broadcast by a Gulf television channel.
After the show, the husband, with whom she has two children, ignored his wife for two days before conveying his decision to divorce her through her family, the daily said.
He based the divorce on his “opposition to his wife’s participation in a television programme,” after having told her not to do so when she previously called in to a live show.
His wife had “divulged the secrets of their private life, which led to the divorce,” Al-Watan said.
The strict form of Islamic law in force in the kingdom allows Saudi men to have up to four wives, whom they may divorce by simple repudiation without any formal process.
I am sure this Jordanian man can sympathize.
A Jordanian man has divorced his wife for the third time because she spent hours talking on the telephone.
The man, named as Abu Sami, accused his wife of ruining him financially by running up bills three times the size of his salary, Petra news agency said.
The couple had divorced twice before over the wife’s use of the phone, but were persuaded to get back together.
Under Muslim law, they cannot marry for a fourth time unless Abu Sami’s wife has wed a different man first.

“My wife would talk on the phone for hours with her sisters and girlfriends to discuss recipes, clothes and the latest fashion and I used to pay the monthly bill without complaint,” Petra quoted Abu Sami, from Zerqa, as saying.
He said the final straw came when his wife began using the family telephone line to make international calls to take part in Arab satellite channel competitions.
It is good to see that they take their marriages seriously. Perhaps wives 2,3 and 4 will know not to repeat the mistake of abusing their telephone privileges.
And speaking of abusing, it could have been alot worse for these women.
Update: This Muslim wife is either treated well by her husband or scared to death by him.
The wife of Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi, the militant suspected of masterminding the wave of terror attacks rocking Iraq, said in an interview published today that her husband could not be responsible for the deaths of women and children.
The terrorist’s wife, Umm Mohammed, said in an interview with Jordan’s second-largest newspaper, ad-Dustour, that: “I haven’t seen my husband since 1999, when he left for Afghanistan.”
But Umm Mohammed, one of two wives al-Zarqawi is said to have, said: “There’s no way that my husband could be a terrorist. He is friendly and a good man.”
“He would not recommend the killings of children, women and elderly people as they’re trying to portray him.”
Yeah..a “friendly and good man.” He has no trouble murdering men – just not children, women and elderly people.
Update: Ok, now this Muslim woman could find herself divorced.
An Iranian woman has reportedly given birth to a frog.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, the unnamed woman from the southeastern city of Iranshahr delivered a live gray frog after what was called “a bizarre labor.”
The animal’s birth followed severe bleeding and was reportedly covered by mud.
Dr. Varasteh, a gynecologist, corroborated the unusual event to the Farsi-language daily Etemaad, saying the woman’s menstrual cycle had stopped for six months and a May sonogram indicated the presence of a cyst in her abdomen.
Meanwhile, a fatwa has been issued against Kermit.
Actually, there is more to the story.
But not all Iranian physicians are accepting this explanation. Etemaad notes that some medical experts have commented on the frog’s similarity to a human.
A clinical biology expert, Dr. Aminifard, reportedly told Etemaad, “The similarities are in appearance, the shape of the fingers and the size and shape of the tongue.”
There is no denying that the “frog” may be somewhat human. In fact, it may look like this when it grows up.
