Mr Big Comes to Town

Hands up if you are happy that Carrie ended up with Big.*

Sex and the City star Chris Noth, best known for his role as Mr. Big on the show, arrived in Israel Sunday, adding to the list of other prominent actors who recently toured the country.

Noth, also known for his role as Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order, will be here for 10 days to tour the country and visit Jerusalem, Eilat, Tel Aviv, and the Dead Sea.

While here, he will film a new advertising campaign for deodorants produced by the company, Careline. He will be paid about $250,000, Yediot Aharonot reported.

The actor was invited to come after he spoke out against a tour cancellation by Madonna in May 2004, according to Ari Marom, director of North American marketing operations for the Ministry of Tourism.

“He considers himself a supporter of Israel and we followed up on that and invited him to come,” Marom said.

Noth is one of several American actors who have visited Israel on trips sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism. According to a ministry spokesman, all the actors were selected by Israel’s North American tourism ambassador Rami Levy to help encourage tourists to visit Israel.

It just goes to show you that not all Hollywood celebrities have their heads screwed on the wrong way.

* I have never watched this show in my life. Ok, maybe once..
