AP reports on PETA’s latest endeavours.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals staged a ‘Live Make-Out Tour’ on Friday to promote vegetarian eating.
The event ó in which a scantily clad couple make out in a bed set up on a city sidewalk ó is meant to demonstrate PETA’s claims that vegetarians are better lovers, PETA spokesman Ravi Chand said.
Additional activists were to pass out information about the health benefits of vegan living.
A city spokesman gave the OK for the couple to canoodle because they were making a political statement.
A-hah..sure. Sounds more like an excuse for a couple of randy people to make out in public.
Policeman: Excuse me, but what on Earth do you think you are doing?
Couple: Haven’t you heard? We are promoting the vegetarian lifestyle by proving that vegetarians make better lovers.
Policeman: And how does this prove it?
Couple: Umm..well do you see what we are doing?
Policeman: That is why I stopped you.
Couple: Well, we don’t eat hamburgers.
Policeman (talking into his walkie-takie): Roger, I am going to need back-up.
By the way, Ravi Chand, the spokesperson cited in the story (and who is also performing these public lewd acts) is deeply concerned about children.
Sacramento, Calif. ó Chicken “nuggets” may be marketed directly to kids, but youngsters could find the deep-fried bird bits hard to stomach after seeing PETAís new “Chicken Chumps” trading cards. Accompanied by a giant “chicken” holding a sign reading, “Chickens Are Friends, Not Food,” PETAís Vegan Campaign Coordinator Ravi Chand will hand the cards out to kids as they leave Isabelle Jackson Elementary School. The demonstration was scheduled after the schoolís principal denied PETAís request to give its “Hidden Lives of Chickens” presentation at the school. PETA will also hand out letters addressed to studentsí parents, warning them that the meat industry is victimizing their children with false information and harmful food.
So it’s ok if our children happen to walk past and see a couple copulating in public. Just not if they happen to be munching on chicken nuggets at the time.
