The Age reports that Spain and the Philipines have reacted angrily to comments by Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, in which he stated the bleeding obvious.
These reactions are reminiscent of Jacques Chirac dummy-spit, after Ariel Sharon stated a few home truths about France over a week ago.The Philippines and Spain have angrily attacked Foreign Minister Alexander Downer’s claim that their withdrawal from Iraq has encouraged terrorists to threaten Australia.

“Unfortunately these actions have encouraged terrorists to continue these threats, so now we are subjected, as the Italians are and the Poles and the Bulgarians from this particular group, to further threats,” [Mr Downer] said.
To the leaders of Spain, Philipines and France, I say this.
By the way, The Age’s headline for this story is Nations Rage at Downer.
At least, they are handling their rage better than others.
