Earlier this year, I created the very first JIB (Jewish and Israeli blog) Awards, designed as a fun way to give Jewish, Israeli, and pro-Israel blogs more exposure. From my perspective, the JIBs were an unqualified success, with most, if not all, nominated blogs appearing on the radar of other blogs, and everyone involved having a good time competing.
Being the host of the JIBs, my own blog enjoyed increased traffic, as people clamored to see what the buzz was about, and vote for their favorite blogs.
Given my aim to expose Jewish, Israeli, and pro-Israel blogs to a wider audience, and due to public demand, I decided a long time ago to open up the JIBs to a different “host” each year. Given that I created the JIBs, it is my perogative to determine this as I see fit. So I have decided, in the interests of fairness (and fun) to start a competition, the award being the right to host this year’s JIBs (at the end of the year).
Whoever is interested in hosting this year’s JIBs and is capable of doing so (it involves being able to set up a sophisticated polling system like Advance Poll), I invite you to write a post with any Jewish, Israeli, or pro-Israel theme. Submit the post URL in the comments to this post. Send your entry via email (click on Contact button under the blog banner).
Entries close October 31st, 2005. The best entry will be decided by Leslie Bunder of Jewishblogging.com (who has graciously agreed to act as judge).
Speaking of Leslie and Jewishblogging, he is planning another Jewish blogging awards, which will involve a panel determining the best blogs for different categories. In other words, the JIBs will be like “The People’s Choice Awards”, while this new awards will be like “The Academy Awards.” I look forward to these new awards, since they will provide another opportunity for increased exposure.
Anyway, what are you waiting for? If you want to host the JIBs, submit your entry URL in the comments. You have 2 months, so there is no rush. And it should be noted that you can submit only one entry each.
Good luck!
