Following yesterday’s decision to declare Gaza a hostile entity and disrupt electricity and fuel supplies, we are already seeing results.
Deposed Palestinian Authority prime minister Ismail Haniyeh met in the Gaza Strip with leaders from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) on Thursday, in a bid to bring about a halt to Qassam rocket fire from from the Gaza Strip.
Bear in mind that Haniyeh is leader of Hamas, an organization dedicated to Israel’s destruction. Yet he is now feeling compelled to prevent rock fire against Israel.
So while United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the usual chorus complain that our measures constitute collective punishment, real lives will be saved.
Update: I should note that the terrorists are currently not heeding Haniyeh.
Despite this, the militant Islamic Jihad group said it would keep firing rockets at Israel, after the groups leaders met with Haniyeh Wednesday in his attempt to convince them to halt the rocket fire.
The way I see it, they will either change their mind after electricity and fuel supplies to Gaza are restricted and the people put more pressure on them to stop, or Haniyeh’s Hamas will use force to try and prevent them from firing rockets, and we’ll have a terrorist org vs terrorist org smackdown.
