Israeli News Briefs – October 12th, 2007

Updated throughout the day

  • 3 hitchiking Israeli teenagers have been kidnapped and robbed after being picked up by a palestinian driver. Luckily this was all that happened to them, as police arrived and saved them while a mob surrounded them.
  • Lebanon has freed Daniel Sharon, the Israeli arrested in Beirut four weeks ago on suspicion of involvement in murder. Apparently, he’s not a murderer. He’s a very naughty boy.
  • Chaim Ramon, Israel’s premier of vice – ehh, I mean Vice Premier (sorry for the slip of the tongue) – and convicted sex offender has tied the knot. As in marriage (and not a latest attempt to have his way with someone).
  • One of the West Bank peace concerts for supporters of a two-state solution has been called off because of security concerns. The concert was to have been held simultaneously in Jericho and Tel Aviv. No prizes for guessing which was called off.
  • Ynetnews, the English web site of Yediot Ahronot, is to close in the next few days. Thanks for the mammaries.
