The Day in Israel: Sat Mar 21st, 2009

Click refresh to see new updates during the day

Shavua tov to everyone. Here’s what happened while I was celebrating the Jewish Sabbath:

  • Exiled Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk claimed Hamas is willing to restart negotiations for a prisoner exchange that would free Gilad Shalit, and would like to reach an agreement as quickly as possible.
  • Dozens of people gathered for a demonstration outside Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s Jerusalem residence this evening, to mark the 1,000th day of Gilad Shalit’s captivity.
  • The PA decided to hold a series of events declaring Jerusalem as the “capital of Arab culture” (despite the fact it is not mentioned even once in the Quran), and Israel blocked them since it is illegal and in contravention of interim agreements between the PA and Israel.

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

8:30PM: Check out some pally personals here.

8:05PM: Terror supporter George Galloway has been barred from entering Canada, due to his support of Hamas.

Here is more on that story, as well as a debate between Galloway and the Director of the Jewish Defence League in Canada.

Notice how Galloway tried to turn it into a freedom of speech issue. Yeah, about that..
