Posting is bound to be slower than usual due to the Passover vacation, but I’ll try to post some sporadic updates.

Meanwhile, today’s main news:

  • 30 victims of Hizbullah’s Katyusha rocket attacks on northern Israel during the Second Lebanon War have filed a civil action against the North Korean government for aiding Hizbullah, requesting more than a $100 million in compensatory damages and an unspecified sum of punitive damages.
  • A top source in Binyamin Netanyahu’s government has said Israel does not object to talks between the West and Iran, while US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has downplayed the significance of a reported increase in Iranian centrifuges.

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

5:04PM: As longtime readers will know, it is not often that PA President Mahmoud Abbas appears in a photo as one of the happier looking people (which was the motivation behind my Does Mahmud Smile? series).

Here he is looking usually unhappy, but a veritable ray of sunshine when compared to his chief negotiator/propaganda minister Saeb Erekat (left).

“Go ahead..make my state.”

4:40PM: Israellycool reader Tamzen has drawn my attention to another relatively recent graduate of Dagestan (see 1:06PM update)

2:05PM: An Israeli medical student killed in the earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy will be buried today.

Meanwhile:

The family praised everyone involved in the rescue effort, including the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s situation room in Rome and the consulate, and members of the Arab community in Italy that hosted the father over the past week.

Yes, that’s right, he was an Arab.

We once again fail miserably in the areas of apartheid and ethnic cleansing.

1:24PM: An Egyptian newspaper editor-in-chief has called Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah an “Iranian agent, funeral profiteer, and even Dracula.”

Which I guess would make him Tzipi Livni’s brother.

Meanwhile, the editor-in-chief also mentioned us:

“The Zionists want to annihilate us because we threaten their survival, while you aim to kill us in the name of Islam, God’s curse on you.”

At least he admits they are threatening our survival.

1:06PM: Mahmoud Abbas – PA President and now recipient of a Makhachkalan doctorate.

This is, of course, not his only one.
