Shavua tov my dear readers. With the Eurovision song contest about to get underway in less than an hour, I can hardly concentrate on the news of the day.
Just kidding.
- Outgoing International Atomic Energy Agency (potato) head Mohamed ElBaradei said that Israel would be “utterly insane” to attack Iran.
By “utterly insane”, I assume he means something like accepting as the head of the IAEA someone by the name of Mohamed ElBaradei. - Sheikh Kamal Hatib, vice-chairman of the Islamic Movement in Israel’s northern branch said “The Zionist sun will set as soon as the sun of the Islamist state rises.” Will someone please moon this guy?
- Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was ready to declare his support for a two-state solution. Although I am more interested in what PM Netanyahu says.
- Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said that while Syria is interested in resuming the peace process, it does not actually want to achieve peace. Nuance.
Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)
10:38PM: I’ve now joined Brian for some Eurovision liveblogging here.
10:20PM: Another anti-Semite has saved Brendon O’Connell’s videos, and posted them back on Liveleak.
Which suits me fine, for now, because it will allow me to prove a few points I have been making over the past few days.
- Notice the bearded man at the beginning of the video. He was apparently a Friends of Palestine member who seemed to be joining in on Brendon O’Connell’s racist rant, instead of distancing himself.
- At 3:35 onwards, you will see O’Connell hit the young Jewish man, make more threats to physically assault him, and then admit to it (“You’re lucky that’s all I did, mate.”)
10:00PM: Be sure to follow the latest on Eurovision here.
9:40PM: Here’s a picture of Sheikh Kamal Hatib, vice-chairman of the Islamic Movement, looking like he’s really trying to do a movement – Islamic or otherwise.
