With US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yesterday calling for an absolute stop to all “settlement” activity, sources close to PM Netanyahu reportedly said the terms of a “settlement” freeze still needed to be defined.

Meanwhile, PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak have reportedly agreed on a plan to evacuate “illegal outposts” in the West Bank within weeks, as a gesture to US President Barack Obama.

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

8:58PM: Introducing Lebanon’s new terrorist organization, replete with female fighters.

I like to refer to them as Herbullah.

8:52PM: Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has vowed not to divide Jerusalem, saying:

“Unified Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Jerusalem always has been and always will be ours and it will never be divided again.”

Even Israeli President Shimon Peres got in on the act:

“Jerusalem is held sacred by half of mankind. It has and always will be Israel’s capital. We never had another and it has never been the capital of any other people.”

Let the seething begin.

For the record, I am not getting too excited about these statements, given the invertebrate nature of our leaders. I have learned from experience that our leaders say one thing, and invariably do another.

5:43PM: The palestinian version of a Ménage à trois.

5:40PM: Oh yeah, one other bit of news I forgot to include in the last update.

Four Muslim men were arrested were arrested in what authorities said was a plot to bomb two synagogues in the Bronx and shoot down military planes at an Air National Guard base in New York.

“They stated that they wanted to commit Jihad,” Kelly said. “They were disturbed about what happened in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that Muslims were being killed.”

Oh, that explains why they’d want to kill Jews.

Showing once again that a root cause of terror is Israel the existence of Jewish people. What a provocation!

5:32PM: Not too much time post any updates today, so here’s a recap of the main news the past 12 or so hours:

  • Israeli security forces have evacuated the outpost of Maoz Esther in an apparent gesture to US President Barack Obama, not quite mirroring the gesture I had in mind.
  • Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman wants us all to know that this week’s White House summit meeting between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was more positive than what has been portrayed by the news media.
  • Lebanon  has complained to the UN about alleged spying by Israel. In contrast, Hizbullah’s antics don’t seem to trouble them.
  • Palestinians have protested Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), in a nod to the city they hold so dear and which appears approximately zero times in the Quran.
  • The Edinburgh International Film Festival has bowed to pressure from British pro-palestinian groups headed by director Ken Loach, who really should do something about that mole.
  • Another thing to blame on Israel: Poor papal turnout.
  • She’s doing it all wrong: Meet the anesthesiologist who put herself to sleep.
  • Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is scheduled to have prostate cancer surgery; has asked to handpick the anesthesiologist.

5:58AM: Palestinian Media Watch presents another video of palestinian child abuse accompanied by horrendously bad music.
