The head of the Mossad said the riots in Iran will die out in a few days rather than escalate into a revolution.
Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama actually got it right with this statement on current events in Iran:
“It’s important to understand that although there is amazing ferment taking place in Iran, the difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi in terms of their actual policies may not be as great as has been advertised.”
If only he wouldn’t be so far off base when it comes to Israel and the palestinians.
Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)
11:18PM: I can’t deny it. There is apartheid in Israel.
Islamic Movement leader Sheikh Raed Salah (aka the constipated one – ed.) gave a talk to Arab students at Haifa University on Wednesday, while Jewish students were not allowed into the lecture hall.
The Jewish students expressed their outrage at how the hard-line sheikh was let in to the campus, but the university said it couldn’t prevent Salah’s entrance, saying that they had their hands tied.
“We didn’t invite him, but in the end, for legal reasons, we had to let him in,” said the university in a statement.
The head of the extremist northern branch of the Islamic Movement, which denies Israel’s legitimacy, holds Israeli citizenship.
During Wednesday’s lecture, Salah – who has served a two-year sentence for a series of security offenses, including financing Hamas activities – said that Jerusalem was an “Arab, Muslim and Palestinian issue alone.”
10:50PM: The comment described in my 8:12PM update was apparently tongue in cheek.
8:18PM: Regarding yesterday’s assassination on Jimmy Carter, he’s obviously very relieved and thankful to be alive.
Or not.
Carter later said that he did not believe an assassination attempt had occurred.
8:12PM: But of course.
It is well known Mousavi (of Moses) is a Jew and the demonstrations in Iran are the work of Mossad agent provocateurs. The ordinary people of Iran are peace loving and would not wish to threaten the Islamic revolution. The agitators are funded by international zionism and the Jew owned international media, in thrall to the zionist oppressors, are running alongside, Fisk included.

5:58PM: Former Israeli PM Ehud Olmert has contradicted recent claims by PA President Mahmoud Abbas that Olmert had agreed in principle to the right of thousands of palestinian “refugees” to resettle in Israel, and that he had proposed a palestinian state on 97% of the West Bank.
12:50PM: Hamasholes are allegedly helping the Iranian authorities crush the street protests in Iran.
Palestinian Hamas members are helping the Iranian authorities crush street protests in support of reformist presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, two protesters told The Jerusalem Post On Tuesday.
They made their allegations as rioting on a scale unseen in Iran for nearly a decade continued in the wake of the elections and the allegations that the results were falsified. The protests have now spread from Teheran to other major cities.

“The most important thing that I believe people outside of Iran should be aware of,” the young man went on, “is the participation of Palestinian forces in these riots.”
Another protester, who spoke as he carried a kitchen knife in one hand and a stone in the other, also cited the presence of Hamas in Teheran.
On Monday, he said, “my brother had his ribs beaten in by those Palestinian animals. Taking our people’s money is not enough, they are thirsty for our blood too.”
It was ironic, this man said, that the victorious Ahmadinejad “tells us to pray for the young Palestinians, suffering at the hands of Israel.” His hope, he added, was that Israel would “come to its senses” and ruthlessly deal with the Palestinians.
When asked if these militia fighters could have been mistaken for Lebanese Shi’ites, sent by Hizbullah, he rejected the idea. “Ask anyone, they will tell you the same thing. They [Palestinian extremists] are out beating Iranians in the streets… The more we gave this arrogant race, the more they want… [But] we will not let them push us around in our own country.”
11:45AM: Hollywood actor Liev Schreiber and his fellow actor and partner Naomi Watts are in Israel this week. What passes this from the realm of So what? to interesting is the fact that they have not hidden their Zionist tendencies.
The Jewish National Fund (or KKL as its known in Israel) has some fun guests this week. Hollywood stars Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts are in Israel with their two young children, Sacha and Samuel, for the first time. According to KKL, the family is in Israel for several days, seeing Christian and Jewish sites as well as enjoying Tel Aviv’s beaches, restaurants, and, of course, planting some trees.
The itinerary was planned by KKL-JNF, “caretakers of the land of Israel for more than 107 years,” and the family’s first official stop was planting a tree up north in the Galilee. According to the JNF spokesperson, Naomi read the tree planting blessing, while Liev looked to place the pistachio sapling in the ground but first had to remove his two-year-old son Sacha who had placed himself in the hole.
Schreiber said his grandfather was a strong Zionist who had always begged him to go to Israel. His grandfather died before he could make that happen, so this trip resonates for him. It may also have additional meaning following his most recent role as Zus Bielski in “Defiance,” the Holocaust movie recounting the Bielski brothers, Jewish partisans who lived and rebelled against the Nazis from a Bellarussian forest with a band of fellow refugees.
I grew up in the Lower East Side of New York, and I’m half-Jewish. Anything that has resonance for me about my family history, because I don’t know much about it, I’m drawn to. That’s part of why I think I choose projects like this. Less because I’m right for them, but because I want to know if I’m right for them.”
And here, Schreiber even mentions damage to Israel incurred by missile attacks.
“This particular area is called Galilee,” the dad-of-two explained. “And in this area, approximately 750,000 trees were destroyed in missile attacks. So what we are doing here today is called Project Renewal.”
How refreshing it is to see a Hollywood celebrity do something supportive of Israel without any hint of fence-sitting.
There are many interesting photos from their trip here, including this one of Schreiber wearing tefillin.
5:58AM: Here is footage from yesterday of Jimmy Carter speaking in Gaza.
Notice the ridiculous utterances to leave his peanut-loving mouth, including the claim that Hamas wants peace.
