The Day In Israel: Tues Nov 24th, 2009

PA President Mahmoud Abbas has said that the palestinians will not launch a new intifada.

Because murdering innocent people is morally wrong, no matter how valid you view your “cause”.

Yeah, in your dreams.

“God forbid that we should come to a new intifada. The Palestinian people are not thinking about launching a new intifada,” he told reporters during a visit to Argentina.

“The Palestinian people are only thinking about the road toward peace and negotiations and no other path. We will not go back to an intifada because we have suffered too much.”

They’ve suffered too much?

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

8:45PM: Excellent Jerusalem flash mob organized by Nefesh B’Nefesh, the organization which helps bring immigrants to Israel from North America.

Incidentally, here is an interesting article on the African-American Jewish man featured in the video.

8:22PM: Quote of the day:

“The visit achieved its purpose. We stopped the snowball with regard to our relations with Turkey. When we are told that business is getting back to normal, it means the goal was achieved. I succeeded in bringing things back to proportion.”

– Industry, Labor and Trade Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, whose ego is rather large…like the man himself.

6:32PM: What do you mean we’ve imprisoned Sgt Pepper?

6:24PM: Two Hamasholes have “martyred” themselves in a house in what Ma’an News refers to as an “unspecified explosion,” and what Hamas says occurred while they were “performing a jihadi task.”

Fancy that. Household jihadi tasks!

“Hey Ahmed, it’s your turn to take out the trash.”

“Aww, man. I thought it was Mahmoud’s turn.”

“Stop trying to shift responsibility. Just do it. And remember to handle with extreme care.”

“Ok, fine. But Mahmoud’s doing the dishes then!”

1:28PM: Senior PA official Yasser Abed Rabbo has attacked Hamas for plotting to “ally with the devil.”

Guess who “the devil” is.

Senior PLO official Yasser Abed Rabbo attacked Hamas on Tuesday morning, accusing the group of plotting to “ally with the devil” in order to weaken the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The criticism comes amid media reports that Hamas is poised to conclude a deal with Israel that would involve the release of 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a soldier held by guerillas in Gaza.

An exchange of this magnitude would be a victory for Hamas and a potential embarrassment for the Fatah-dominated PA and PLO leadership in Ramallah.

Abed Rabbo also repeated Abbas’ disappointment that Hamas has ceased committing terror attacks against innocent Israelis.

Against this backdrop, Abed Rabbo claimed that Hamas had ceased “resistance,” refused reconciliation with its rivals, and refused to be involved in the political process.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. The main difference between Fatah and Hamas when it comes to Israel are the suits.

11:45AM: Photo of the day.

8:58AM: Rutgers University’s Student Assembly has voted against a motion to reconsider sponsorship of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. More details here.
