While Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu lobbies European leaders to oppose Sweden’s draft proposal to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of both Israel and Palestine, PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad spoke to a a group of European diplomats to ask them to support it.

The proposal – which also reportedly hints that the EU would recognize a unilateral palestinian declaration of independence – is to be discussed tomorrow in Brussels.

Updates (Israel time; most recent at top)

10:30PM: Do you remember the video I posted a few days ago of the British anti-Semite at a palestine solidarity rally?

Well, here’s an outtake containing some more anti-Semitic goodness wrapped in a layer of delusional paranoia.

10:25PM: Palestinian terrorists today fired a new type of rocket into Israel – a Russian-made S5K, the type used in battle in Iran and Afghanistan.

7:36PM: Today in Melbourne,  “pro-palestinians” protested the presence of Israel’s Vice Prime Minister, Silvan Shalom.

In case you couldn’t make out what they were shouting at the beginning, it was “From the river to the sea, palestine will be free.”

In other words, it was not a protest against the so-called occupation of the “West Bank”, but rather a call for the destruction of the entire Jewish state of Israel.

Meanwhile, here’s more on why there was pepper spray used.

Or even better, you can see it here:

1:22PM: Hamas has denied the previous report that four French doctors visited Gilad Shalit last week at the secret Gaza location in which he is being held.

They apparently wouldn’t let the world get the wrong idea that they care for the human rights of their captive.

9:00AM: Ynetnews reports:

A French medical crew, comprised of four doctors, entered the Gaza Strip last week and examined kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, several reliable media outlets reported Sunday. This was the first time a foreign element visited the captive.

According to the BBC network in Arabic and the London-based Arabic-language al-Hayat newspaper, the crew entered Gaza last Sunday with German mediator Ernst Uhrlau.

I guess one man’s “reliable” is another man’s “you’ve got to be kidding me!”

6:16AM: The previous story has given me an excuse to repost my favorite Israeli McShwarma commercial.

6:02AM: Introducing the great McDonald’s blackmail plot of 2009.

A 34-year-old resident of Baka al Garbia was arrested Friday on suspicion of trying to blackmail McDonald’s. The man claimed he was in possession of a film allegedly showing health hazards in one of the chain’s branches and demanded million of shekels for his silence.

However, the clip appears to have been staged.

A police inquiry indicates that the man contacted a McDonald’s representative in Israel a month ago using an alias, and claimed to be in possession of a video taken in one of the company’s branches and showing major health hazards. He then demanded to meet a McDonald’s representative in order to present him with the proof.

A complaint was filed with police and an investigation was launched. As part of the inquiry police set up a meeting with the suspect. During the meeting the suspect presented the film which appeared to have been doctored and edited, showing worms inside a fridge in a McDonald’s branch.

The suspect did not stipulate the exact sum he was demanding but made it clear it would amount to millions “since he was dealing with one of the largest companies in Israel.”

He was arrested at the end of the meeting and taken into questioning where he admitted to the allegations.

What a relief it was staged, because I would devastated to learn that McDonald’s food is unhealthy.

</sarcasm>

Meanwhile, police have released the suspect’s photo.

</sorry>
