Growing up we sang Ring Around The Rosy and our proud moms beamed at us for being so cute as we danced in a circle and all fell down.

In Israel, my children sang, “Ooga, Ooga, Ooga,” and I smiled in approval as my little ones danced in a circle, then sat “lashevet” and stood “lakoom”.
Arab mothers appear no less proud of their children when they perform the um, sweet rituals of childhood.
No one could deny the pride on these loving mothers’ faces as this child practices beheading a cuddly stuffed animal, probably in practice for bigger and bolder deeds.
It’s only a difference of culture.
