Canada, where I proudly hail from, is a nation of bleeding hearts, and has unsurprisingly taken a compassionate stance in the face of the ongoing Syrian refugee cr(isis). So much so that our new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has pledged to accept a whopping 900 Syrian refugees a day, although due to security concerns following the Paris attacks they decided to amp up their screening system by collaborating with the Canadian intelligence (RCMP and CSIS), and ban unaccompanied men.
Tens of thousands of Syrians thus far have fled ISIS only to land into the hands of….ISIS?
The above photo, which is making the rounds of social media, is actually real:
“The immigration group said at one point the connotation was so bad, staff were embarrassed to wear their name tags and partners were unwilling to say their name at public events.”
Unsurprisingly, it has caused enough of a social media uproar, that unfortunately-named immigrant services association (ISIS: Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services) recently changed its name to ISANS (Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia). Now, www.isisns.com redirects to www.isans.ca.
Welcome to Halifax, ISANS!
