Pizza Hut Israel Trolls Marwan Barghouti (Updated)

Some epic trolling by Pizza Hut Israel, which was unfortunately panned by Pizza Hut International (see update below).

Pizza Hut International issued an apology on their official Facebook page after a local Israeli page posted a photo of hunger striking Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti allegedly eating chocolate, questioning why he hadn’t chosen pizza.

The post, which Pizza Hut stated came from an agency, has since been removed

Here is a screenshot of the post before it was removed:

Translation: Barghouti, if you already broke the strike, pizza is not preferable?

And here is Pizza Hut’s apology:

Talk about laying it on thick. I understand why they perhaps did not appreciate the ad since it offends many people on the wrong side of history who also happen to enjoy their pizzas, but c’mon. An apology?

Enough of the apizzament.

Update: Reader Yigal noticed the apology post is from Pizza Hut Lebanon!

Pizza Hut International does not seem to have updated its Facebook page in years.

In other words, Pizza Hut Lebanon seems to have trolled Pizza Hut Israel!

The question is: did Pizza Hut International really ask Pizza Hut Israel to remove the post? Or were they “tricked” by Pizza Hut Lebanon?
