BDS Founder Omar Barghouti and his friend (and more blatant antisemite and terror supporter) Hatem Bazian were recently interviewed by some French outfit.
The entire thing is long and laborious, but it is very revealing.
In the first 15 minutes or so, Barghouti explains the success of the BDS movement – especially in attracting the support of the Left. He also mentions the philosophy behind the “anti-normalization work of BDS” as hinging on the fact that Israelis who does not recognize the palestinian right to self-determination “don’t view us as equal humans.”
Barghouti then goes to show that he doesn’t recognize the Jewish right to self-determination!
In other words, Jews in the Arab world can live in the Arab world and are considered a part of Arab culture. But how dare they try to exercise their right to self-determination in their historical homeland (which he denies as being our historical homeland, since he implies we have been here less than 74 years). Don’t worry about the massacres and expulsions in the Arab lands, we value you!
For Barghouti and his fellow Israel-haters, Jews must be subsumed into Arab culture. We cannot be independent or have control over our own lives. In contrast, the palestinian Arabs – who are part of the overall Arab people and did not have a distinct identity until one was artificially created around the middle of the 20th century – do have the right to self-determination.
Yes, there are some people who don’t view others as equal humans, but it is the exact opposite of what Barghouti claims.
