A group called Free Palestine Printing is running a GoFundMe, which has already raised over AUD$82,000 of its AUD$100,000 goal in less than two months. The purpose? To raise money for” the production of materials to distribute freely within the community, supporting rallies and campaigns for Palestine.”
I believe this fundraiser contravenes GoFundMe’s terms of service. Under the Prohibited Conduct section:
Without limiting the foregoing, you agree and represent, warrant and covenant:
A. not to use the Services to raise funds or establish or contribute to any Fundraiser with the implicit or explicit purpose of promoting or involving:
8. User Content that reflects, incites or promotes behavior that we deem, in our sole discretion, to be an abuse of power or in support of terrorism, hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorist financing or intolerance of any kind reflects an abuse of power relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, disabilities or diseases;
Take the photo they use on the GoFundMe page for example:
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free” is commonly understood as a genocidal call to rid the land of the Jews, despite claims by those who claim otherwise. One need only look at the events of Oct 7 to see what it would mean for non-Muslims.
But there’s more. A look at Free Palestine Printing’s Instagram page reveals more about what they promote.
For a start, outright antisemitism, as evidenced by comparing us to the Nazis:
invoking the medieval blood libel of the Jew as child killer:
Nazi-esque comparisons of Jews to rats and vermin:
and Jews as money-hungry thieves:
But there’s also promotion of violence:
and mocking the idea that a proscribed terror organization should be condemned for a massacre:
Please join me in reporting the fundraiser to GoFundMe for a breach of its terms.
