I would have liked to have been at the wedding of the century, the Litman-Biegel wedding, but as some of you might know, I was on baby watch, awaiting the arrival of my granddaughter. Instead, I contented myself with watching some of the live feed of the event, looking at published photos from the wedding, and watching as many video clips as I could get my hands on. This one was the best of the bunch.
What an amazing thing this was—the Litman-Biegel wedding. What an affirmation of the life force and Jewish peoplehood! The overhead, almost-aerial view of this wedding? A stunning sight to see. Maybe not a million people, but an impressive-enough crowd of 10,000.
I love the groom for his firm, clear, strong, and tearful declaration: “If I forget thee O Jerusalem, may my right hand lose its cunning,” and his vigorous stomping of a napkin wrapped glass goblet, under his foot.
I love that the bride is hoarse from singing and cheering: Am Yisroel Chai! The nation of Israel LIVES!
I love that the groom tells the Yonit Levy, the interviewer, “I am her spokesman.”
And most of all, I love that this bride and groom finally had their celebration, finally tied the knot.
I know they will build a faithful home in Israel and bring lovely Jewish children into the world.
That’s what it’s all about folks.
There is nothing else.
