It’s pleasing to hear the news that the Milwaukee Bucks are giving Meyers Leonard a 10-day contract.
A person with knowledge of the negotiations said Leonard and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed on a 10-day contract, opening the door for the 7-foot center to play in an NBA game for the first time since January 2021. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.
Leonard’s NBA career was derailed in March 2021 when he uttered an antisemitic slur while playing a live-streamed game.
He’s spent two years on the outer in which time he met with Jewish leaders and Jewish kids. With education, he understood the significance of the slur he uttered.
Atonement and forgiveness is an underlying foundation of Judaism. If a person is sincere in their remorse, it is upon us to welcome him with open arms and wish him the best on what will hopefully be a great basketball career.
A person can be cancelled in the short term but there should be a road back to recovery and rehabilitation otherwise our intolerance is as bad as though who offend in the first place.
