Bird Smuggler

I’ve heard of budgie smugglers*, but this is ridiculous.

A Sydney man convicted of trying to smuggle cockatoo and lorikeet eggs out of Australia in his underwear has been sentenced to two years in jail.

Keith Lionel Miller was caught at Sydney Airport on November 12 last year with 23 bird eggs hidden under his clothing as he prepared to fly to Zurich in Switzerland.

Customs officers frisked the 51-year-old and discovered the eggs hidden in his underpants.

They contained unhatched Major Mitchell cockatoos, Gang Gang cockatoos, Red Collared lorikeets and Rainbow lorikeet mutations.

* Budgie smuggler is Australian slang for Speedo’s bathers, those skintight, formfitting bathers for men.  And Budgies are small birds from the parrot family.

That’s what you’d call a man with “baitzim” (eggs in Hebrew….)
