Navy SEAL vs Israeli Commando: Preview

Ahead of Tuesday night’s Deadliest Warrior between Navy SEALs and Israeli Commandos, here’s the preview, or at least the closest thing I could find.

Spike TV also has a preview of the kinds of weapons which will be featured in the episode, and there are some photos here and here.

Meanwhile, here’s a poll on the impending battle.

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to this!

"Moti Horenstein, a 'krav maga' expert who served as an Israeli commando in the 1980s, appears on the program and said he is willing to bet Israeli forces would win in a battle against anyone, 'because we have no choice. We deal with violence 24/7.' "

Pffffft. The Israeli mystique. Not even closely approximating what the US Navy SEAL teams have been dealing with in Iraq and A'stan 24/7 for the last 7-10 years straight.

"Horenstein owns a chain of krav maga schools in New York and Florida."

    That explains it.

"Trauma expert Dr. Armand Dorian, one of three commentators on the program, expressed the opinion that the SEALs would have a strong advantage over the Israelis in one major area – their training regarding the use of force vis-a-vis civilians: 'For the Israeli commando, collateral damage is not acceptable because of the fact that they fight inside their own homeland,' Dorian said in an interview. 'For example, a Navy SEAL will put 30 slugs in the chest and if 10 go around the body, so be it. They just want to make sure of the kill.'"

Wow, he couldn't possibly have demonstrated more clearly that he knows nothing about US Naval Special Warfare training. It's all about putting every round downrange exactly where you want it. They can do it in their sleep.

"Tarpinian added that a number of those who served in Israeli commando units had refused to appear on the program, saying they had taken a vow to keep their training secret."

Yeah, I'd want to keep it secret, too. Avoid embarrassment. Relax, the SEALs will probably go very easy on their counterparts. Wouldn't want to cause any Flotilla flashbacks and bedwetting.

    Shalom

I am willing to bet if I put you in a room with an Israeli commando, it would be YOUR pants requiring a good laundering.

Dont worry, Dave. We Americans are all talk and no show.

        • Infidel Pentium says:

"Navy SEAL veteran Rob Roy and Israeli Commando Mike Kanarek had to fire 30 rounds at a slowly moving pig carcass attached to a moving dolly without hitting gel torsos, which represented innocent bystanders. Using his Colt, Roy was able to hit the pig all 30 times, while Kanarek’s Galil didn’t hit the mark on nine of the 30 shots."

          • juvanya says:

I think someone here said that IDF wouldnt even use a Galil in that situation. And honestly I dont trust this show to have any intent on accuracy of facts.

Im a bit concerned about the use of computer simulations actually…

  4. James says:

So there is a show being made for the US TV audience which will pit the skills of the elite of the US armed forces against the normal armed forces of another country.

My brain is hurting from trying to work out what the result will be…………not.

    • Michael Zvi Krumbein says:

      Sayeret 13 is not elite?

      • James says:

Are they actually talking about Sayeret 13, or just regular units? I'm not sure how the IDF is organised, but in the UK, all the combat soldiers in the Parachute Reg and the Royal Marines are considered to be commando's, so are regular units even if they are "elite" (however the SAS and the SBS are the special forces sub sections). The term commando doesn't necessarily mean special forces.

        • Michael Zvi Krumbein says:

Actually, in the U.S., the marines are in some sense considered elite in and of themselves, and of course in Israel the paratroopers and in some sense the air force are considered elite. I guess there are levels of "elite".

So I guess I see your point. I thought they did mean the seals against the bats.

          • CRB says:

Coming from a Marine family, I have never heard of Marine infantry being called elite. We do boast about being better trained and longer trained than the US Army however unlike the original US Marines, we've become standard infantry in Iraq and Afghanistan. The real elites in the Marine Corps is FORECON or Force Recon companies. There training is amazing.

I'm a Jew (very zionist) and also very pro-American but seriously, how about the Australian SAS those guys are amazing (I know a couple) they're currently in Afganistan doing an amazing job these guys are also the real deal!

  6. Mike says:

What gets me is that as far as I can tell, this show is pitting the average IDF soldier, calling him a commando, and pitting him against the second best soldier in the US, first being black ops. That already is a boost saying that Israel's average soldier is definitely better than an average american soldier. Either way, this episode is a big PR win for Israel
