Last week Aussie Dave wrote about PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s preposterous claim that non-existent Israeli rabbis called for the poisoning of Palestinian wells.
After this libel, the European Parliament gave him a standing ovation.

Watching this video, you can’t help but see that Europeans just love Abbas and his Palestinian Arabs. Truly.
According to the New York Times’s translation, these are the remarks that preceded that standing ovation:
Just a week ago, a week, a group of rabbis in Israel announced, in a clear announcement, demanding their government, to poison, to poison, the water of the Palestinians,” he said. “Is this not incitement? Is this not clear incitement, to the mass murder of the Palestinian people?”
Europeans could not care less when Palestinian Arabs are literally starved to death in Syria. They could not wait to lift sanctions on Iran, with no regard for the fact that the country is executing gay people and jailing Baha’is. Nor do they express anywhere near the same level of concern for Tibet, Western Sahara, women in Saudi Arabia, slaves in Qatar.
One can’t help but speculate about the reasons for this EU-Abbas love affair. And I can only conclude, that Europeans love Abbas and his Palestinian Arab people because the Palestinians give the Europeans a respectable veneer for their antisemitism.
In the second half of the 20th century, we all believed that European antisemitism was a thing of the past. But a hatred that is so deep, so virulent, and so much a part of the fabric of the society as to have made way for the systematic rounding up and killing of entire families, could not possibly go away so easily. It seems so obviously naïve, now, to have ever believed that was the case.
Europeans today like to think that they are enlightened. They like to think that they are better than their 20th century ancestors. So they wrap up their depravity in the veneer of human rights, and claim that they are advocating for the poor Palestinians. The pretense of supporting the Palestinian cause is the new, acceptable way, as Richard Landes put it in a must-read in Fathom Journal, to “Jew-bait and Jew-hate.”
Yes, Europeans love Abbas.
