Celebrities Help Raise Record $53.8 Million For IDF

On Thursday night, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) raised a record $53.8 million at its annual Western Region Gala (last year they raised a “mere” $38 million!) And as usual, there were celebrities on hand to help with this good cause, including Gerard Butler, David Foster, Joanna Krupa, Katharine McPhee, Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens, Melissa Rivers, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Oracle Co-Founder Larry Ellison donated a whopping $16.6 million. I love how he explained why he supports the IDF:

“For 2,000 years, we were a stateless people, but now, we have a country we can call our own. Through all of the perilous times since Israel’s founding, we have called on the brave men and women of the IDF to defend our home. In my mind, there is no greater honor than supporting some of the bravest people in the world,..”

Judging by the number of hate comments I have had to delete from my post on the fundraiser last year, I know these posts get up the haters’ noses. They clearly hate the idea that some of their on-screen and musical heroes actually support the good guys!

  1. A very pleasant sight; foul creatures like Roger Waters are certainly the exception and not the rule. I also believe more people support Israel than what is shown in the media and elsewhere. Screaming leftists at various pro-“Palestine” demos does not a majority make.
