What is it about Government officials and lying?

Exhibit 1:

A state Senate administrator was stripped of some duties Monday – but kept his job and salary – after an inquiry determined he appeared to have lied about how he dispatched a racy e-mail to hundreds of government workers.

In a letter to Senate Secretary Mike Baer, Senate President Don Hines said staff determined Baer intended to send the e-mail containing vulgar jokes and video files to certain people – and instead mistakenly sent it to several hundred around the Capitol.

Among the files was a three-minute video focusing on female genitalia.

Baer had said he intended to delete the material, but hit a wrong button on his computer last month.

“We find it difficult how this could have happened in the way he explained it,” Hines said.

Hines took away some duties assigned to Baer over the years. But he won’t lose the secretary’s post unless 20 members of the Senate vote to oust him, and he’ll keep collecting his $123,000 salary.

“I feel like, by law, this is the maximum I can do,” Hines said.

Baer called the mistaken e-mail carelessness, and said he hadn’t even seen the jokes himself.

Exhibit 2:

THE former Australian diplomat accused of pedophilia in Bali is concerned he could also be prosecuted by Australian authorities.

—-

Mr Brown was arrested last month and has admitted to certain sexual acts with two underage Indonesian boys. He has denied sodomising them.

Australian authorities could have a firmer prosecution case after Balinese police found child pornography on Mr Brown’s computer last week. Mr Dauh said police examined the computer and found photographs of naked children and sexually explicit emails.

Mr Dauh said Mr Brown explained the photos were of his maid’s son and his friends. The maid was employed by Mr Brown in Jakarta, where he lived for a time last year.

Mr Brown denied he had taken the photos. He said he suspected his maid or his maid’s son had been playing on the computer without his permission, Mr Dauh said.

And speaking of lies, I just discovered some great sites on PLO Arab lies:
