Life is never dull in Israel. Take a look at some of the stories that have made news this week.

  • Hitmen from Belarus whose targets included the father of a female member of the Knesset, whose own rise to power has been, shall we say, suspect.
  • The Prime Minister and Foreign Ministry are engaged in a tussle, with the Foreign Ministry saying that Israel looks like a “Banana Republic.” Rumour has it that Tony Blair now pretends he is an answering machine every time he picks up the phone and hears someone with an Israeli accent (ok, that last part isn’t true).
  • Thieves burgled the car of the head of the Mossad, stealing his cell phone that contained many sensitive phone numbers. One upon a time, people didn’t even know who the head of the Mossad was. Now, they not only know who he is, but also the phone numbers of all his friends, as well as that of his hairdresser, drycleaner and gardener.
  • A father severely beat his son for watching Harry Potter, instead of doing his homework.

Yup. Life here is never boring. Sometimes, I wish it was.
