September 11: Three Years On

To those of you who may be perplexed as to why I seem to have let the third anniversary of September 11 pass by without even a mention, the reason is simple: yesterday was the Jewish Sabbath. I spent the day with my family, as well as some former classmates currently visiting Israel.

I could write some long-winded post about how we must never forget what happened on that fateful day three years ago. How many countries seem to have trouble remembering who were the perpetrators and who were the victims. How the war against terror must continue unabated, until the free world is victorious. But the truth of the matter is that I am constantly saying this. You, my regular readers, are all too familiar with the messages I am trying to get across.

Instead, I would like to remind those of you with short memories where Israel stands, and where the PLO Arabs stand, when it comes to the tragic events of September 11.

Here is an account of September 11 in Israel:

The streets are quiet and few celebrations are taking place. American flags hang from many homes and apartments in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. You can see a few Israelis who were in the States during 9/11 wearing t-shirts this week and today stating: “World Trade Center 1975-2001” and with the silver World Trade Center towers behind the red and yellow words: “May God Bless New York, May God Bless America,” and other shirts declaring: “You can destroy our buildings but you will never destroy our spirit.” Israelis will watch, remember and cry as they surf the Net and turn on the evening news. It is not a happy day. Not for the US, Israel and the democratic world.

And here is a reminder of the PLO Arab reaction three years ago:

Palestinians in Lebanon met news of attacks on American targets on Tuesday with jubilant gunfire, dancing and cheering, saying Israel’s chief backer deserved such a punishment. REUTERS/Ali Hashisho

But these are just the terrorists militants! The average PLO Arab woman and child would have been deeply disturbed by the tragic loss of life.

C’mon! This is obviously a hoax. The press were using old footage of the PLO Arabs celebrating during the Gulf War.

No. The photos were indeed taken on September 11.

And here’s more.

Never forget. I know here in Israel, we haven’t.
