Well, I am back.
Actually, I came back from Europe on Friday morning, but only now do I feel like I am back mentally.
If I had written this post before I arrived at work, I would have said the same thing – that I felt mentally alert. Except it wouldn’t have been true. You see, when I woke up this morning to get ready for work, I believed it to be 6:00AM. Only half way through my journey to work did I realize that I was one hour behind reality, and that I had in fact woken up at 7:00AM.
And now for a few random observations from my trip abroad.
The new airport here in Israel is incredible. Unlike many other things here in Israel, it seems to have been designed with both aesthetics and logic in mind. You can participate in a virtual tour of the new airport here.
Do airlines have agreements with film distributors that only the worst movies should be shown on flights? I am beginning to believe so. On my last trip to Europe, they showed Garfield, a movie based on the cartoon strip of the same name. This movie is really bad. And that is being kind to it. On this latest trip to Europe, they showed a movie called Two Brothers, which was about two tigers. It was even worse than Garfield (at least in Garfield, the cat spoke).
In the field of Economics, there is a concept called the Price Elasticity of Demand. In short, it measures the responsiveness of quantity demanded to a change in price. Judging by my visitor statistics while I was away and my blogging was down, readers of this blog are blogging output elastic: when I do not blog so much, less people visit the blog. I am unable to maintain my readership for even a week if I am not blogging. This makes me kind of like the hamster on the wheel – when he stops running, the electricity turns off.
