For some people, when you have to go, you have to go.

A uniformed Orange County sheriff’s deputy who was caught on a security camera urinating in a building’s elevator resigned Monday, the same day a hearing was scheduled on the appeal of his firing.

Deputy Carl Brown, 40, said in his resignation letter that he didn’t want the media attention his appeal was attracting, said Jim Solomons, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Yep. This is clearly a police officer that does not want attention. Which doesn’t explain why he would PEE IN AN ELEVATOR!

“When you’re deputy sheriff we expect you to obey the law. You can’t urinate in public, especially in a public elevator,” Solomons told WKMG-TV in Orlando.

I would have thought that goes without saying.

An internal investigation determined that Brown violated two standards of conduct – conformance of laws and conduct unbecoming. The videotape showed him reaching up to the security camera and pushing it away when he noticed it after urinating.

How about a third standard of conduct – gross stupidity. It is stupid enough to pee in an elevator, at the best of times. But to realize your deeds have been caught on camera, and react by pushing the camera away, is about as stupid as the original peeing offence. Did he think that once he was outside the camera’s line of sight, the security guard viewing the footage would suddenly forget the image of the policeman with his trousers below his knees, urinating over the floor? I think a more likely scenario is that of the security guard viewing the footage, shouting out “Joe, get over here! You gotta see this!”
