Liron is a Tel Aviv based podcaster, who talks about life in Israel, as well as tech-related topics. She hasn’t podcasted for a while, presumably due to her preparing for her move to Germany. Good luck, Liron!
#9: IFOC Podcast
This being Laurence Simon’s own podcast, it is worthy of mention for this fact alone. Add the facts that it is quirky and original, and it qualifies for my top ten.
#8: Pure Idiom
A relatively new podcast, Pure Idiom is a humorous “story” podcast features the vocal skills of Scott McCollum (formerly of IMAO podcast, and who does one of the best George Bush impersonations you will ever here), “homocon” Nathan Scott, as well as Laurence Simon as a rather devilish cat.
#7: Israelisms
Like Harry and Ziva (see below), Carol and Charlie are an Anglo-Israeli couple podcasting from their home in Israel. Always opinionated, their strong personalities shine through, and their on-air “arguments” are a highlight of this enjoyable podcast.
#6: IMAO
The team from IMAO bring us this humorous podcast. Given the amount of contributors and their geographical proximity to one another, it is no mean feat that they are able to stitch everything together so seemlessly. Once again, Israellycool podcast cameo favorite Laurence Simon features.
#5: The Shmuz
The Shmuz is a 45 minute Torah lecture that focuses on major issues of life. Rabbi Shafier is extremely charismatic, and manages to cover deep topics with relative ease, and in a highly interesting manner. On the downside, only a limited amount of these podcasts is available free of charge.
Silent Running‘s “Tom Paine” is another podcaster who’s years of real broadcasting experience are obvious to anyone listening to this show. His round-ups of blog news, interviews, coupled with his deadpan delivery of jokes, make this an enjoyable show. Throw Laurence Simon into the mix, and this show is top 5 material.
Harry and Ziva talk about all things Israel and not Israel. No topics are out of bounds, and the chemistry they have is a delight to listen to. Ziva’s “Oh Harry” is fast becoming a favorite amongst podcast listeners.
Besides being my father-in-law, Marty is also passionate about the cause of Israel. His podcast is polished, a testament to his year’s of broadcasting experience. And the show is almost daily, making him one of the most prolific podcasters around.
Ricky Gervais is the comedian behind The Office and Extras. He is joined by his writing partner, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington, who produced their show on Xfm. The show basically consists of the lads talking about all sorts of things, with Karl (deliberately) saying something stupid, and Ricky and Stephen giving him a bollocking.
Only four episodes of this podcast, and I am already hooked.
