In recent weeks have noticed a decline in the standard of your blog. The posts seem to lack some edge. Are you ok?
I can’t say that I think the standard has dropped, but then again I am not objective. What I will say is that my output has been lower. The main reason for this is that work-wise, my career is going extremely well. However, this leaves me with much less time to blog. It is not like I was blogging heavily at work to begin with (I would post once or twice in the morning before I started working, and sometimes on a break), but now I hardly have time even for this. And considering that I work 12-hour-days (and that is not including the 2 hours of commuting each day), by the time I get home, there are other things I would rather do (and should do) than blog for an extensive period of time. Sure, I do manage to do the odd post or two, but I do not spend too much time on it.*
My podcasting has also suffered, and I think I am at a crossroads with it. I would love to continue with it – and I hope to – but I am not sure I can even maintain a once-a-week schedule.
The situation has not been helped by the fact that my blog host is charging like a wounded bull because of my bandwidth usage. I have been spending a fair bit of time engaged in an email correspondence explaining how other blog providers charge much less, and how I cannot afford/am not willing to pay their exhorbitant rates – time I could have been spending blogging. I am reviewing my options, and will likely change to another provider (and software) if they do not come down significantly in price. But this will be a huge headache and time investment, and many of my post links will be rendered broken as a result.
So there you have it, in case you noticed a decline in my blogging quantity or quality. But rest assured I do not plan on giving the game away just yet.
* My output has been higher the past few days, since I have been sick at home
