You may or may not have noticed that this site has been American Idol-less. Frankly, I am not really that interested in this season’s goings-on. However, what I saw last night is worthy of a blog mention.
Guest singer Andrea Bocelli and some other guy were helping the contestants, and making comments about them. At one point, “the other guy” made fun of Bocelli’s blindness, when he asked about the hair color of one of the contestants. But Bocelli showed him who’s boss, by guessing the color correctly – blonde (Although perhaps he was able to determine this from some other clues..).
But that’s not what is worthy of the blog mention, although I did decide to mention it. What I got a kick out of was Bocelli’s attempts at English. His lack of command of the language was never so manifest as when he made the following comments about (male) contestant Taylor Hicks:
“Taylor is a good singer. He has a beautiful instrument.”
Only a European could get away saying something like that.
