Some great news to start the day:
ABU Ayyub al-Masri, who took over as leader of terror group al Qaeda in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s death, has been reported killed by Arab television.
I guess he refused one interview too many.
Update: I now see that news.com.au have updated the report, which no longer contains the above ambiguity. But luckily Israellycool reader Nick has sent me a screenshot:
The updated report also suggests that news of al-Masri’s death may have been exaggerated.
Asked whether a report on the Al-Arabiya satellite television that Masri had been killed by US troops was true, US spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Barry Johnson said: “No”. A spokesman for the Iraqi defence ministry, Mohammed Askari, said the body of a dead militant was being examined but that “it’s most probably not him”.
