One of the things I have become accustomed to over the past few years is the increase in number of subtle “spam” comments on my blog. In the past, the spam comments were very easy to recognize, since they were completely out of context to the post under which they were left. But over time, the spammers have become more sophisticated, actually taking the time to read the post and then leave a comment in context. Normally, the only evidence of the comment’s spam nature is a strategically placed link to a website – normally business-related – to increase the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) of the linked website.
I have learned to recognize the spam comments and delete them from my blog, a process that annoys me no end. And I usually leave it at that. But the other day, a spammer did something beyond the pale, motivating me to publicize it on my blog.
What did they do? They left the following comment to this post relating to the recent terror attack against a school bus:
ZaraMartn commented on Why Were Only Two Hurt On That Bus? – Israellycool:
God bless the land and the people of Israel with health, with happiness, with prosperity, and yes, with peace so that the day will come when our sons won’t have to go to war and those living outside of our country will come without fear and find out what Israel is actually like. Our goal should be to get 2 million people who care out on the street and if half of them wear kippot than be it.
The word “kippot” was linked to this site selling kippot (skullcaps): http://www.a-zara.com/
They also left a comment to this post, also relating to the terror attack:
ZaraMart commented on Hamas Backtracks – Israellycool:
The 16 year old child is still in a very serious state.
This time, the name of the commenter linked to the same site.
I am utterly offended that this individual felt the need to exploit the tragedy in a transparent attempt to drive business to their site. I am therefore publicizing this.
Fellow spammers be warned. If you try to use my blog as your personal link dumping ground, I will act. And if you do so while exploiting a tragedy, you really won’t like what I do.
Update: That ZaraMart really gets around. From that cesspool that is the blog of Richard Silverstein [click image to enlarge]:
