Adam Carolla “Ows” OWS

Comedian Adam Carolla pulls no punches when explaining the OWS Generation.

[language warning]

If you don’t have the patience to sit through the entire rant, here’s a highlight for me:

We’re dealing with the first wave of participation trophies … everybody’s a winner, there are no losers.”

“It’s this envy and shame, and there’s gonna be a lot more of it. It used to be back in the day, a father was walking his son and they’d see a guy go buy in his Rolls Royce. ‘There goes Mr. Jenkins. Look up to him.’ What do we do now? Oooh, look at him. Does he need that car? Why does he need to drive that car? Let’s throw a rock at it.”

Needless to say, I think he’s nailed it.

His analogy at least partially explains why we see so many antisemites and Israel haters at the OWS protests: The Jews/Israel are Mr Jenkins.

  1. This time I will actually say something nice about one OWS.

There’s a rather interesting (and civil) exchange in the comments between the Richmond Tea Party and the Richmond OWS here. It seem both have legitimate claims of favoritism of the other by Richmond officals. (And, after all, the idea of the government picking winniers and losers is one of the main objections to the administrations’ action.) The claims do not contradict; while OWS was given free services (which they were willing to pay for themselves) they had been denied a permit.

They seem to be somewhat supportive of each others’ claims. Who knows? Maybe they can get together for some issues?

  2. I do like Adam Carolla. He has talent and is as opposed to political correctness as I am. But his take on OWS and economic inequality reminds of old man Potter, the mean, heartless owner of the rival bank in “It’s A Wonderful Life.” I remember when he was the “up and comer” with his own “Man Show” but now his co-host Jimmy Kimmel has become a star and Adam is doing his own podcast after several failed attempts at tv/radio shows. Adam Carolla is only in his 40’s but he sounds like a miserable old crank wondering what’s wrong with these kids today. Sounds like he could use a trophy of his own.
