Hot Israeli chick with gun occupies internet

She’s Israel’s latest international star, yet nobody knows her name – or even her face, for that matter. A shapely young brunette – presumably an IDF soldier – with a machine gun slung over her shoulder, standing in a provocative pose in a striped bikini as she enjoys the sun on a crowded beach standing next to an equally attractive friend wearing an equally tiny bathing suit.

I first spotted the photo on Facebook posted by a high-tech worker named Barak Raz- with the caption “Only in Israel.” It was shared more than 500 times and garnered 1,500 ‘likes.’ The photo wasn’t exclusively a Facebook phenomenon – it seems to have originated here and been viewed by more than 650,000 people over the course of a single day. The crowds were sent by the social news site Reddit. Among other places, it was picked up the popular techie blog Gizmodo which titled its post Badass Chicks In Israel Don’t Go To the Beach Without Their Assault Rifles.

Naturally, those passing the photo around are predominantly male and draw admiring comments that range from analysis of her various assets and the positioning of her – ahem – weaponry – rah-rah remarks like Raz’s, praising Israel and the IDF specifically for producing such a specimen.

Others ask practical questions like “where does she keep the cartridge?” and “what if she wants to go swimming?” There are also detailed discussions about the precise make of her weapon and why she would be carrying it. And, of course, there are suspicions of photoshopping that accompanies any hugely popular online photo. Any excuse to keep ogling.

Meanwhile, I’m guessing the well-endowed-with-a-weapon woman in the photo was not seen at the following:

A Palestinian principal was punished over a spontaneous beach party that emerged during a field trip in Israel. The school head lost his job, and was reassigned to a different West Bank school.

Mohammad Abu Samra, 33, says he landed in hot water when video and images of his pupils dancing on a beach in Jaffa with bikini-clad women and Israeli beachgoers were sent to the Palestinian Ministry of Education.

The incident took place at the close of the Qalqilya Al Salam Secondary School’s 11th- and 12th-grade field trip to Jaffa beach led by Abu Samra, reportedly the youngest principal in the history of the Palestinian Authority, according to the Dubai-based Al Nisr Gulf News.

According to Abu Samra, an Israeli DJ began setting up on the beach as he attempted to load the buses to leave before their day permits expired.

“My pupils started dancing, and I also joined them at the beginning to let them have fun,” Abu Samra told the news agency.

“Volunteers shot a video and took a couple of still photos and forwarded them to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, with a complaint that the incident would imply that there was normalization of ties with Israel and it exposed the young generation of Palestinians to Israel’s illicit code of conduct,” he added.

And we all know how the palestinians are very careful to lead moral lives.

Except for the occasional honor killing or terrorist attack, that is.
