In news probably unconnected with this morning’s murder of a Jew by a Palestinian Arab from Samaria, we have news that we’ve blown up Hitam al-Mahsal who Israel has determined was behind the rockets fired at souther Israel recently.
I’ve also seen him referred to as belonging to an organisation called “Global Jihad”: they’re so creative with their names aren’t they?
He was hit while riding on his motorbike.
An IAF strike in the central Gaza Strip Tuesday morning killed a senior Salafist terror activist who was reportedly behind an April 17 rocket attack on Eilat from the Sinai peninsula.
The IDF and Shin Bet security service confirmed that they had targeted Hitam al-Mahsal, 29, whom they said was an “explosives expert.”
According to initial reports, Mahsal was killed in an airstrike while driving a motorcycle near a Hamas training base. Several others were reportedly injured.
It was the first time Israel targeted a terrorist in Gaza since the end of Operation Pillar of Defense last year.
We don’t rejoice in death. But sometimes we’re sorely tempted too.
