I’d like to say that JNF’s donors (who probably thought they were planting trees) would be outraged their cash is being placed delicately on the top of a huge pile of petro-dollars, but many of them probably approve.

The Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemet Leyisrael) will pay former U.S. President Bill Clinton $500,000 in return for his coming to Israel to give a speech at a gala evening in Rehovot, and at a JNF event. He will also take part in the President’s Conference, where Peres will be honored by celebrities including barbra Streisand and Robert De Niro. The money will reportedly go to the Bill Clinton Foundation.

  1. bill gets a 500k speaking fee?

So it is written, so shall it be. Take a look at the other party. As incredible as it might seem, the Tea Party component of the Republican Party is poised to be ascendant in 2016. What “Bob Dole Republican” has a ghost of a chance for the GOP nomination for the next go-round? Jeb Bush? Rob Portman? John Huntsman? Forget about it. Republicans are as crazy as they want to be.

      1. It depends on what the issues are. If Republicans still oppose abortions in case of rape while in favor of giving Wall Street a license to swindle, they will get their butts kicked again.

  2. For years KKL spent donations from the diaspora on trees, plaques and forests in Israel but some of the funds are known to have gone to indirect causes not worthy of the original KKL activities since the establishment of the State. I no longer support KKL and prefer to support Israeli agriculture instead.
