I have a major piece up at the Times of Israel castigating the IDF Spokesperson Unit for making a stupid picture mistake while trying to replicate Israellycool’s Concentration Camp Gaza style of posts.
Update: fortunately, while my ToI piece and this post was in draft, the IDF Spokesperson’s unit did the right thing by acknowledging their mistake (they had already taken the picture down quickly). Still I hope this post underlines the seriousness with which they must take their job and the level of checks they must go through before posting.
Hit by friendly fire from the IDF Spokesperson:
Man down! Man down! I’ve been drawing fire for a long time from the enemy but I have been shot in the back by the IDF Spokesperson. All of us working to improve Israel’s image have been harmed.
I don’t mind being shot at by the anti-Israel crowd: you know you’re over the target when you’re taking flack. Friendly fire, however, is distressing.
