I think this blog has clearly had a “pro-Israel” bias from the get-go. Where is the journalistic integrity? The balance? Well, here I am to bring a little “TRUTH” to your truth.
For my first post, I would like to go over the basics of Anti-Israel Douchbagism.
In AID you must remember the following principles:
1) Assume Anti-Zionism is synonymous with Pro-Palestinian
This will give you the comfort in knowing anything that hurts Israelis will somehow help Palestinians. BDS has mastered this art by ensuring Palestinians are not subject to competitive wages and benefits provided by many Israeli employers.
2) Assume Anti-Palestinian is synonymous with Pro-Zionism
Contrary to what you may have heard, Zionism is not the 2000 year old dream of the Jewish people to rule over themselves with their own traditions free of any outside persecution. This doesn’t fit with my prejudices. So Douchbagism requires the assumption that Palestinians are so hated by every Zionist, the IDF won’t even rape one.
3) Any story from any source putting Israel in a bad light is to be regarded as the irrefutable gospel
Veteran Douchebag, Richard Silverstein often uses “anonymous” sources. These sources could range from YouTube commenter, hiterwasright88 to more reliable sources such as a rogue Mossad agent (citation needed). In any case, these are to be treated as truth. When Rihanna was misheard by one concert goer singing, “All I see is Palestine” in a song about strip clubs, that’s what she did. No video footage of the actual event can prove otherwise.
4) Any story putting Israel in a positive light is Hasbara, unsupported, *blank*-washing or will somehow cause Palestinians and ethnic minorities great harm.
Israel has done a lot of good for human-kind. They brought us medical wonders, technology that exists in almost every device in the world, agricultural methods that have helped solve world hunger and has given us the greatest number of PhD’s and Nobel Prize winners per capita in the Middle East.
Wikipedia? Written by Zionists! Medical breakthroughs? Hasbara! Gay-friendly? Pinkwashing! Why? Because I have a political disagreement with something completely unrelated about them.
5) History begins whenever it suits you
Israel started the 6-day war. Israel immediately started depopulating Arab villages immediately after declaring independence and Israel always strikes Gaza first with no provocation. How can this be? Easy! Start the story at whatever timeline suits your argument. This can be especially effective when defending a Palestinian prisoner hunger striking. When you start the story at a chosen point in time the prisoner is free of any sin.
6) Good Old Fashioned Antisemitism
This must remain the backbone of your Douchbagism. People will confront you asking, why you are so critical of Israel when so many other countries are *actually* guilty of far worse crimes. While your answer may always be, “I’m not antisemitic, I’m anti-Zionist”, remember rule 5, and start your history at 1948.
These principles will guide you like horse blinders into the deep trenches of Anti-Israel hatefulness.
Good luck to you all!
