I’m a big Bob Dylan fan. Especially the three albums Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde which marked his first foray into rock music in 1965 and 1966. Blonde On Blonde has the honour of being the single most played album in my iTunes library. Of course his most famous song is arguably Like A Rolling Stone from Highway 61 Revisited, listed at number 1 in Rolling Stone magazine’s (no relation) top 500 songs of all time.
So it was with great pleasure that I discovered (via Varda) this awesome and super cool new music video for the song which has been released to coincide with a mega release of all his back catalog. The clip is actually 16 clips in one, all impersonating a cable TV station that you can cycle through with the controls. Here it is:
However it is was with even greater delight that I discovered that much of the talent behind this video clip is in fact Israeli! From Tablet Magazine:
“Like a Rolling Stone” is as American as they come, but much of the talent behind this particular iteration is Israeli. The video runs on the Interlude interactive video platform, which was developed by an eponymous startup helmed by rock star Yoni Bloch, surely one of Beer Sheva’s proudest sons. The Interlude portfolio already includes award-winning videos for the likes of indie groups We the Kings and Chairlift (alongside a New Girl video with Zooey Deschanel), but this is a definite step up.
And the Israeli connection doesn’t stop there: the video’s director is Vania Heymann, the 27-year-old Jerusalemite wunderkind who left the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design after some of his homework achieved incredible YouTube success, landing him jobs directing commercials and music videos, as well as a running spot on the beloved TV show Eretz Nehederet. Though sometimes derivative, his technically brilliant work has won him countless fans.
So I’m double dipping in my delight today!
UPDATE: Having watched the clip a bit more, I noticed that the tennis stadium in the sport’s channel part is the Israel Tennis Center in Ramat Hasharon, and the news presenter on the news channel is Danny Cusmaru in his “Ulpan Shishi” studio.
