It’s pretty hard to reconcile this: James Carver, member of UKIP (UK Independence Party) asked if the EU would consider recognising the state of Somaliland. He was quickly given back the answer that the EU parliament doesn’t have the right to recognise a new state. That is the remit of each of the individual (barely) sovereign states that make up the EU.
Listen what happens when he and the party’s leader, Nigel Farage, try to bring this up while the EU is voting to recognise “Palestine”.
